After School Programs

Girls Rock Louisville is seeking instructors for our 2018 spring after school programs!

GRL is currently hiring instructors who will be responsible for both instrument lessons (guitar, bass, keyboard, drums, or vocals) AND band coaching for girls and gender non-conforming youth ages 10-14 for after school programming for Spring 2018 at Western Middle School and Parkland Boys and Girls Club.

Instructors will have the opportunity to work part-time with our after-school program, in which our participants will form a band, write an original song, and learn the basics of an instrument, band practice, and perform for friends and family in a final showcase performance. GRL instructors play an active role in all aspects of the program management and facilitation.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Ability to teach and ability to play one of the following: guitar, bass, keyboard, digital music making tools, drums, and/or vocals.
  • Knowledge of musical equipment and gear
  • For after-school program, ability to commit to the following dates and times:

Western Middle School: Monday, March 19th 2:30-5:30 PM (hands on instruction time: 3-5 PM)
Western Middle School: Monday, March 26th 2:30-5:30 PM (hands on instruction time: 3-5 PM)
-skip April 2 for JCPS spring break-
Western Middle School: Monday, April 9 2:30-5:30 PM (hands on instruction time: 3-5 PM)
Western Middle School: Monday April 16 2:30-5:30 PM (hands on instruction time: 3-5 PM)
Western Middle School: Monday, April 23 2:30-5:30 PM (hands on instruction time: 3-5 PM)
Western Middle School: Monday, April 30 *Showcase Concert Day* (hands on instruction time: 3-5 PM)

  • Attend one instructor orientation, which will be offered prior to both the after-school programs (exact date to be determined)

 Desired Qualifications:

  • Previous experience volunteering with Girls Rock Louisville summer camp is preferred
  • Previous experience working with youth in an instructor role
  • Previous experience in a leadership role and working within a larger team
  • Previous songwriting experience

 Compensation:

Each after-school program instruction involves 12 contact hours of instruction + 6 hours of prep/set up= $500 total compensation
